The New Community Development Process
- building meaningful, strong and sustainable communities.
- building meaningful, strong and sustainable communities.
‘The New Community Development Process' (NCDP) is a practical and proven approach to spearheading the building of meaningful and sustainable communities. Rather than taking a geographical, administrative or economic perspective to communities, ‘The New Community Development Process' provides an inclusive approach where we work together and help each to be successful and fulfil our potential.
The proven methodology (tested over the last two years through a series of pilots) provides 'a new way in' and 'a fresh opportunity' to re-look at local community development in order to support those most in need, build harmony and produce practical outcomes for all.

reinvigorating local Communities
What is your vision for a thriving and invigorated local community? What does it actually look like on the ground, in your area? What are the key challenges and needs that you are facing within your local community? What are the priorities that you want to see addressed over the next twelve months?
These questions lead us in search for a definition of community that is beyond the usual approach or model which is often bounded by place, ethnicity, government initiative, social status or religious tradition. The context for community within NCDP is one which is actively inclusive of all and relevant to all. How can we utilise the skills, expertise and experience of all to support those in need, the homeless, unemployed, people who are lonely, excluded, depressed, struggling or just 'stuck' at the moment? How will we define and measure our success?
The New Community Development Process therefore is about connecting individuals with local needs. It's about individuals realising and fulfilling their potential within a positive and supportive environment that seeks to makes sense of all that we are - and all that we do.

Support those in your area ...
To reinvigorate our local communities we need an overall framework which:
1. Defines and offers a new setting for individual action and contribution by all
2. Is fully inclusive and is focused on the engagement and empowerment of all so that everyone can benefit, and
3. Is driven by a sustainable process which is fully self-supporting in each area.

Engage your local community
A special opportunity for Faith traditions and Inter-faith bodies
The New Community Development Process offers a leadership opportunity for those from all faith and belief traditions. The common values of The Golden Rule (and the Ethic of Reciprocity) where we treat others as we would like to be treated - can provide new space for greater local harmony, shared spiritual growth, new language, better understanding and promote new models of action.
Let's host an Initial Workshop in your area ....
Would you like to work with us to pilot and test this approach in your area? An initial three hour workshop is available which gives a first hand insight into the approach and way of working. This can be the springboard for the start of your local New Community Development Process. To find out more please contact Des McCabe on +44 7717 203325 or by email diversiton(at)gmail.com
New Community Development Process - delivering collaborative empowerment
The New Community Development Process is characterised by three key principles
1. Building upon strengths and valuing each person.
At the heart of NCDP is the recognition that everyone has strengths, skills, gifts and talents. Our challenge as a vibrant and responsible community is to find, recognise and cherish the gifts of all others so that these can be utilised effectively - for the person themselves and for the wider benefit of all.
2. Dual responsibility
All participants on NCDP have two responsibilities - one to ensure they achieve their personal objectives in terms of work, money, employment, etc., and secondly, to support everyone else in the group and help them also to be successful. It is this opportunity of looking outwards, of sharing, of giving freely of our time and resources, of looking for opportunities to help others, etc - which gives us the ability to leverage our skills, expertise and experience (as problem solvers and idea generators) for the common purpose and to build our community.
3. The upside down triangle.
The engagement approach turns the traditional project or training ‘structure’ upside down, so that the 'Trainer' or 'Leader' is no longer at the top of the triangle. The group becomes responsible for the success of individuals and the development of relevant initiatives. In other words, the process is owned and driven by the participants.
