How to Attract and Work with People you Love

 Bring YOUR Purpose to Work.

As we move into this new world of business, something very simple, but very powerful, becomes clear: the way we attract, grow and work with people is changing completely.

In the old business world, companies competed for staff by offering bigger salaries, grand job titles, and fancier perks. If you paid enough, people would typically stay. But that model doesn’t speak to all our hearts anymore.
Today, especially for the younger generations, individuals seem to be looking for something much more meaningful. They’re not just searching for jobs; they’re searching for purpose.

They’re asking new questions: Does this business care about something bigger than profit? Does my work here make a difference? Am I part of something that matters? Can I grow personally while contributing professionally? These aren’t rare questions anymore. They’re becoming the norm.

The truth is, younger generations have seen what happens when businesses put profit first. They’ve witnessed burnout, harm to communities, and damage to the planet. And they don’t want to repeat or be part of those mistakes. They want something better — something kinder — something where they can be themselves and contribute fully.

And this is where the Work It Out Way creates something truly special. Because when your business is built on kindness, contribution, shared purpose, and genuine care, it becomes a place where people want to be. It doesn’t feel like work in the traditional sense. It feels like a shared adventure. It’s a place where people are not just hired hands - they are friends, colleagues and partners in purpose.

But let’s be clear: this all starts with us. If we want to build a business that people love being part of, it has to begin with our own clarity and conviction. It’s not enough to have a mission statement in the annual report. It’s about visibility on our own lived purpose and our own sense of what really matters.

You are the first invitation. You and your work become the beacon. The culture of your business will reflect your values, your energy, and your heart. People won’t just be attracted by the job description. They’ll be drawn to you and to what you stand for.

And remember, most of the time, the individuals who come to work with us won’t arrive through formal recruitment systems. They’ll come through conversations. They’ll bump into your ideas. They’ll see what you’re building and say, “I want to be part of that.” These are the people you want -  people who align with your values, who care deeply, and who bring their whole selves to the table.

People will no longer just be performing tasks. They’ll be creating something they believe in. They will bring energy, creativity and compassion. They will bring their own story — every experience, challenge, success and insight - and it will all become part of the shared work.

And we won’t need to worry about retention strategies. People will want to stay — not because of bonuses or promotions, but because the work feels real. It’ll be because they feel alive in what they’re doing, and because they’re contributing to something that matters, alongside people they love and respect.

In this new world, organisations will no longer be sustainable as top-down machines but will thrive as living ecosystems. The old pyramid structures will be slowly dismantled, replaced with inverted pyramids of relationships, where each of us is at the heart of our own community - connecting, creating, supporting and growing with others. Workplaces will become collaborative community endeavours rather than hierarchies. Purpose will not be given; it will be discovered and aligned between individuals, their colleagues, the organisation, and the world around us.

Leadership, too, will be different. Authority will no longer be concentrated at the top of the organisation, it’ll be distributed. Leaders will empower others. They won’t need to command, because they’ll be working with others and looking after them. They will unlock potential, ensuring that everyone becomes part of the ecosystem of personal leadership.

We will no longer see people in fixed roles or job titles, because everyone brings a unique "pick and mix" of experience, skills, insights and passions. And when people are given space to contribute beyond their job description, they thrive.

Encouragement will become the heartbeat of culture and this will naturally extend beyond the organisation. We will care for customers, clients, suppliers and our communities. They’re not external, they too are part of the ecosystem. Businesses will begin to see the world differently, and purpose will no longer be invented internally. It’ll be shaped by the challenges and opportunities in our hearts, in our relationships, and in the world around us.

This is sustainable business. It’s not because it’s efficient, but because it’s connected and because it contributes. Our businesses will listen, adapt and grow alongside the world we serve.

So don’t worry too much about recruitment pipelines or retention stats. Focus on building the kind of business that’s worth belonging to, one conversation at a time. Start with purpose. Be truly yourself and let everything grow from there.

This is how we attract and work with people we love, and who will love working with us. Together, we can build something that’s not only sustainable, but transformative.
