Thanks to Clive Williams, a Work it Out! colleague.   What will you create with us?

I could write a song

One of the biggest mistakes we can make when discussing career development is to assume that employment is only about finding a job.

Work It Out encourages participants to create workpieces.  A workpiece might be a blog, a podcast, a song, a video, an e-book, a craft project, a drama piece, a community initiative, a small business idea or something entirely different. They might share a hobby, create a group or run a mini training session. The purpose is not simply to produce something. The purpose is to discover strengths, develop confidence, share their skills or knowledge - and create opportunities.

Many young people have talents and ideas that have never been given the opportunity to emerge. Sometimes all that is needed is encouragement, support and a belief that their contribution matters.

Clive Williams came along to Work it Out and wrote a song called ‘We Can Work It Out.’ The song captures one of the central principles of the Work It Out approach. You can listen to Clive’s song here

Everyone has a creative piece, an undiscovered talent and something ready to emerge. Everyone can find their own voice with the gentle persuasion and the encouragement of others.

Perhaps one of the most important questions we can ask  people of all ages is not simply, "What job do you want?" Perhaps we should also be asking, "What would you like to create?"

Clive Williams now helps to support many other Work it Out colleagues and initiatives across the UK and Ireland.

We Can Work It Out

Whoever you are, whatever you need,
Wherever you’re from, I believe

We can work it out, We can work it out,
We can work it out, We can work it out,

Whatever you do, whatever you’ve done
Whatever your dreams are, there’s no need to run

We can work it out, We can work it out,
We can work it out, We can work it out,
Together as one
We can, we can, we can, we can work it out!
We can, we can, we can, we can work it out!

We can, we can, we can, we can work it out!
We can, we can, we can, we can work it out!
We can, we can, we can, we can work it out!
We can, we can, we can, we can work it out!
We can work it out, We can work it out,
We can work it out, We can work it out,
